Analogue Indicators with stepper motor

Round analogue indicator with white scale and black pointer

Analogue indicators NORIMETER 3 product family, type NIR3, NIQ3, are display instruments equipped with a microprocessor-controlled, high-resolution stepper motor.

The image shows a 360° scale indicator. They have a 360° scale dial and the motor is without a mechanical stop. They serve to indicate the rudder position, propeller position and pitch on ships.

They use a pointer on a scale disc to visualise measured values of physical measured variables such as speed, rotational speed, pressure or temperature.

Benefits of indicators with stepper motor

  • Non-linear scale division (spread scale) possible
  • Connection for external illumination control
  • Illuminated pointer on request
  • Suitable for outdoor use
  • Individual design of the scale disc
  • Input signals: frequency, direct current, direct voltage, Pt100, Pt1000, thermistor, resistance
  • Approvals for shipbuilding: ABS, BV, DNV, LR, MED

Additional functions of indicators with stepper motor

  • Indicator LED for status messages
  • Line calibration for temperature indication
  • Minimum/maximum storage and value indication
  • Integrable limit switch function with output
  • Monitoring for sensor failure
  • Monitoring for power failure (Live Zero)
This is how the cost-efficient version with moving-coil movement works

Indicator with integrated moving coil

The image shows a round analogue display with a black scale with a zero position in the middle. The digits on the left-hand scale are red, the digits on the right-hand scale are green. The display measures the engine speed.

Analogue indicators type SIR3 and SIQ3 are analogue indicating instruments equipped with a moving-coil movement. They function by means of a magnetic field that is generated in the coil by current or voltage measurement signals.

Like our indicators with stepper motor, they visualise measured values from direct current or voltage input signals with a pointer on a dial.

For simple applications with direct input signals

Benefits of indicators with moving coils

  • Cost-efficient due to moving-coil instrument
  • Direct connection of the analogue measuring signals current or voltage
  • Robust glass fibre reinforced plastic housing
  • Can also be used outdoors
  • Available with zero position centre moving coil movement (±1mA)
  • DNV approval for shipbuilding

Round or square design in various sizes

Construction types and mechanical properties

  • All indicator models in round or square shape
  • Housing made of glass fibre-reinforced, UV-stable and salt spray-resistant plastic
  • Front screen made of anti-reflective float glass
  • Installation without tools, in cut-outs in front panels, control panels and control desks
  • Wide operating temperature range -25 ... +70 °C
You decide what your analogue indicator looks like

Customised design - even for small quantities

Indicator with front panel, rotary knobs for illumination adjustment, integrated buzzer for alarm signalling and push button for alarm acknowledgement. With customer logo on the dial disc.

Analogue indicators for the restoration of a steam locomotive, display of water and oil temperature, scale design based on the old, defective indicators.

Advertising indicator for a Christmas campaign, scale with marking of the days of Advent, flashing function when Christmas Eve is reached on 24th December.
