What our temperature sensors are used for

Temperature sensors, often also called temperature probes, are measuring instruments that detect the temperature of a medium or an environment and convert it into a processable electrical signal.

The functional principle is based on the properties of certain materials. The change in resistance or voltage is measured and converted into an electrical signal.

These changes can then be converted into temperature values. Depending on the temperature range to be measured and the application, different measuring elements are used in temperature sensors.

Common measuring elements that we have in our portfolio are:

  • Pt100/Pt1000
  • Type K or type J thermocouples
  • Thermistors

Areas of application

Temperature measurement in demanding environments

Our temperature sensors are used in applications where the highest demands are placed on accuracy, reliability, robustness and durability.

Our core business is in particular the customisation and development of temperature sensors for applications in transport technology in rail vehicles and shipbuilding.

Typical applications in transport technology

In transport technology, our temperature sensors are used in rail vehicles, particularly on the bogie for bogie monitoring.

  • Detection of the stator temperature on the traction motor
  • Detection of the lubricating oil temperature in the gearbox and traction motor
  • Detection of bearing temperatures on the wheelset
  • Detection of various temperatures for bogie monitoring

Typical applications in shipbuilding

In the shipbuilding industry, our temperature sensors are used in particular by engine and gearbox manufacturers:

  • Detection of lubricating oil temperature in engines, gearboxes and generators
  • Detection of exhaust gas temperatures in engines and turbochargers
  • Detection of cooling water temperature of engines

Typical applications in commercial vehicles

Our temperature sensors are used in commercial vehicles e.g. for:

  • Detection of lubricating oil temperature in engines and gearboxes
  • Detection of bearing temperatures in gearboxes
  • Detection of cooling water temperature of engines
