myNORIS as a perfect Retrofit for the WECS 2000

Containerships VI engine room The flexibility of our myNORIS system has once again proven itself. A current project of the shipping company H. -P. Wegener for a retrofit of the WECS 2000 has initiated new developments. (Click here for more information about our WECS 2000 refit solution).

The WECS 2000 is a widely used control system for Wärtsilä engines. It typically consists of a local control panel at the engine and one or more data collectors. The task was to replace existing WECS components as easily and quickly as possible with new components. The flexible myNORIS system is made for this like no other.

Sincewelearnfrommistakesintheindustrywithfirstgenerationsof engine controls, we have optimised our solution regarding the RAS attributes. These include the areas of reliability, availability and serviceability. In concrete terms, this means, for example, that the system only requires a few different spare parts, all of which can be replaced within a few minutes by any technician on board. The harsh conditions on the engine can no longer affect the system, as the electronics are installed separately from the engine.

Containerships VIOur retrofit solution now consists of a local control cabinet with a 10" touch screen display and an independent safety system. The Wärtsilä engine type is already pre-set when delivered. Additional remote displays can be added optionally. On request, our service team will carry out the conversion and commissioning on site. For retrofit solutions in particular, it is crucial to rely on an established provider in the industry so that the choice of an independent provider does not ruin the gained cost advantage through poor service.

We see great potential with this straightforward and effective solution. It is important for everyone involved to keep the ship up to date. This is exactly what we want to ensure. We can now replace old WECS 2000 with a powerful retrofit solution - simple, fast and cost-effective, with the experience of thousands of marine diesel engine control systems installed.
